Community Life®

These Community Life® measures do not replace organizational standards. Nor do they conflict with the measures of Responsive Services® and supports. Rather, the Community Life® measures foster the bridging role of organizations in facilitating relationships between people and their communities. Organizations serve this bridging role when they connect people with other civic associations and/or community relationships.

The Community Life® focus:

  • Redefines place-based quality in the context of the community rather than that of the organization.

  • Enhances the options and resources for individual outcomes, self-determination and individual financial budgeting.

  • Emphasizes the bridging role of organizations. Organizations no longer serve the community by “managing, controlling or coordinating placements, contracts or slots.” Organizations, whether formal or informal, self-directed or professionally managed, optimize person-based quality of life with place-based Community Life®
